GRUNION REPORT SUBMISSIONS
All team members and members of the Grunion community are
welcome and encouraged to submit information or articles to be
included in the Grunion Report, published every Monday. The
editor requests that you submit information or articles no
later than Sunday at 5:00 pm to be included in
the next day's report. Items may be submitted
via e-mail to MattyBear. |
APRIL TEAM SWIM MEET
Our team
swim meet for the month of April will be the Santa Clarita SCY
Regional Championships to be held on April 21, 22 and
23. This is a Championship Meet where team points are
scored so every individual swim and every relay counts! Let's
swim in hordes to show our team spirit!
If this is
going to be your first swim meet as a member of the Grunions, your
entry fee will be free. Please contact Yuji for more details.
Even if you are not ready to swim at a swim meet, please come out to
support your team mates. They always love a big cheering
squad!
Please note
that this swim meet does not allow deck entries. All entries
must be mailed in ahead of time. Entries postmarked
before April 10th (that's next Monday, folks!) will
be $40. Entries postmarked after April 10th but before the
14th will be $50. Be sure to mail in your entry form this week
to avoid the late fee!
On Saturday
and Sunday, we will organize a car pool from the "Grunion Transit
Center" (a.k.a. Penny and Patricia's house) at 1865 Bellflower
Boulevard, just a few houses up from Atherton. We will leave
their house at 7:00 am.
If you would
like to suggest an "after meet eats" place on Sunday, please let
Yuji know.

GRUNION
SCHOLARSHIPS: ROUND 2
The Grunion Scholarship Committee has
completed the first round of Gay Games Swim Scholarship application
reviews and award offers. Watch for an upcoming announcement
on Round 1 winners soon!
The Grunions are now offering a second
round of Gay Games Swim Scholarships, including swim event
registration! Below are the Application questions.
Forward completed applications to JC at j-carl@att.net by April
21st. All eligible and interested Grunions are encouraged to
apply!

GRUNIONS
TO HOST PRIDE SWIM AT BELMONT
On Saturday May 20th, which is Pride Weekend, we are
holding the Grunion Pride Swim and Social at the Belmont
Plaza.
This is an exciting opportunity for all the Grunions and other gay
teams (if they are here for pride) to get together in a
non-competitive environment and have fun with crazy themed relays
and a few 50s. Awards will not be based on time, but on
humorous criteria designated by our own judges. We need your
enthusiasm and creativity and are looking for some volunteers to
head-up/help with various parts of putting on this event including:
check-in, crazy relay ideas, judging, timing, starting, MC'ing
etc. Please email me at ken@supersource.com if you
would like to be a part of this exciting
event.

With Gay Games approaching
in just a few months, now is a good time
to place your order for a new team swimsuit. In
order to obtain a discounted price, we need to place a
minimum order of 12 suits. There are three suit styles
available, and the current discounted prices are as
follows:

Carol Kelly is our Grunion
Gear Coordinator, and she will be collecting people's money and
requests for suit orders. She will be able to place the actual
order only after she has received enough requests to get the
