Practice Schedule
We currently have 9 practices a week, with at least one practice a day. All practices except Friday include an on-deck coach instructing swimmers through the workout. Friday is an open swim session. Following is our normal schedule:
- Weekday Evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Victoria Park
- Monday and Wednesday Mornings from 5:30am to 6:30am at Silverado Pool
- Saturday Morning from 9:30am to 11:00am at Los Alamitos
- Sunday Morning from 7:30am to 9:00am at Los Alamitos
Please note that our practice schedule may change, however, depending on the availability of a given pool. For the latest information on our practice schedule, check our Calendar of Events page.
Team members are encouraged to attend as many practices as they wish. There is no attendance taken, and no requirement to attend all practice sessions (actually, no one does. Keep in mind that recovery is an important aspect of your training.) We are all busy, working adults and realize that not everyone can make it to all the practices. Come to as many as you can fit into your schedule. Of course, the more often you practice, the better you will get!
Practice Sessions
A typical practice session usually has 15 to 25 swimmers in the winter and up to 40+ in the summer months and is supervised by one of our team's coaches. Our practice starts with a warm-up. This is a very informal time as people are getting into the pool and warming up at their own pace. The standard warm up in 200 Freestyle followed by 100 kicking, then 200 Pull. If you're new and not sure what that means, don't be shy to ask that cutie in the next lane what to do. It's also an opportunity to greet friends and have some social interaction. After everyone has had a chance to warm up, the coach will call a stop and announcements will be made. Then the coach will give out the evening's main practice set. At the end of the practice session there is always a warm down and practice is over for the night!
During the practice each swimmer trains with others in their same skill set: beginner, intermediate and advanced. The practice session is adjusted so that each skill level gets a good workout. Advanced swimmers may be doing IM relays while beginners may be doing stroke clinics. Beginners are coached to improve and perfect all the strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle) as well as flip-turns, dive starts and push-offs.
Entry Fees
Club membership dues cover the regular entry fee at each pool. Monthly membership dues are $25.
